for Peer Specialists and Other Peer Providers
Wednesday, October 28, 2009
9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The Hilton Omaha
Omaha, Nebraska
Art can be a powerful force in changing people’s lives. This pre-conference institute is designed to train mental health peer specialists and other peer providers in how to integrate the arts into their work.
A variety of arts activities – including painting, performance, writing, humor, and music – will be offered. All of these activities are designed to be replicable in a variety of settings, including inpatient facilities, community programs and consumer-operated services.
Attendees are not required to have previous artistic experience nor to have any particular talent; the faculty will be made up of peer artists who have knowledge and experience both as artists and trainers. (Participants pay for their expenses but the arts training is free.)
